Shoofly Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell

Crumbs

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2-4T shortening or margarine

Filling

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1t baking soda
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

Cut crumb ingredients together with a pastry blender. Separate into halves.

Mix baking soda into the hot water. Combine with the rest of filling ingredients. Add 1/2 crumbs and beat together. Pour into pie shell. Sprinkle the rest of the crumbs on top. Bake 25 minutes in preheated oven at 375deg.
